Our Story

Built on Smoke & Patience

Windmill Grill didn't start in a boardroom. It started at 4 a.m. in a backyard pit, with a rub recipe that's been in the family longer than most people in St. Jo can remember.

We opened our doors on E Howell St because this town deserved better than microwave reheated convenience. We wanted a place where the smoke signal is real, the portions are honest, and you're treated like a neighbor — because that's exactly what you are.

Every cut of meat is sourced locally. Every batch of sauce is made in-house. Every shift starts before sunrise because good barbecue can't be rushed — and we aren't in a hurry.
